Three Parts Dead

Three Parts Dead - Max Gladstone What a blast. I've spent years thinking it would be fun to write/read epic fantasy featuring mundane fish-out-of-water professionals (lawyers, accountants, ad execs) and here Max Gladstone skewered it with his urban fantasy of necromantic lawyers, vampiric pirates and fanatically religious gargoyles.

I've got a few quibbles with the climax, but it gets 4 stars for imagination and verve. Good stuff, although I'm in no rush to read the sequels.
