The Boy on the Bridge

The Boy on the Bridge - M.R. Carey Well I managed to tear myself away from this yesterday, so I've devoured it in two days (rather than losing all of New Year's Day to it as I did The Girl With All The Gifts a couple of years back). But it would have been very easy not to.

A companion novel rather than a sequel, this is the story of the crew of the Rosalind Franklin and their epic mission to gather samples of the infected from around the country in hope of finding a cure to the hungry plague. This doesn't go as planned, and their tense journey is riven from the outset by personal and political differences that may prove, in the end, as fatal as the plague itself.

Brilliant stuff. Great start to my reading year (in floods of tears; and you know that means extra stars where I'm concerned).
