Use of Weapons

Use of Weapons - Iain M. Banks Rereading an old favourite is always a chancy business; in my head, this and [book:Against a Dark Background|422452] were both incredibly dark - but on rereading AADM, I found it lighter weight and less satisfying than I recalled. No such problems here - Use of Weapons remains probably my favourite Banks, unexpectedly (if darkly) funny on the one hand even as it strips itself back, layer by layer, to reveal the horror at its heart.

Banks shows off here with great pacing, narrative complexity and plenty of political commentary as usual.
